For over 12 years, Marilyn has been mediating business and family-related disputes at the Austin Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) and Gardner Betts Juvenile Court in Austin, Texas, where she works with families, small business and juvenile offenders. At the DRC, Marilyn has been extremely successful in helping resolve family and business-related disputes avoiding future costly and lengthy legal actions. Marilyn’s work at Gardner Betts has greatly assisted juveniles and their families in helping establish safer home environments, setting boundaries and improving communications within the family.
In addition to her mediation work, Marilyn worked professionally for over 25 years in a corporate environment with individuals from all walks of life and corners of the world. Her exposure to different cultural environments has given her a greater understanding of business and personal family dynamics, workplace employee challenges and small business disputes.
Marilyn is also a licensed Realtor and owns a small property management company in Austin. Her ability to “diffuse” conflict and her strong negotiation skills help tremendously in this area. Marilyn’s interest in dispute resolution many years ago led her to seek formal training as a mediator where she has obtained advanced mediation training. Marilyn has also been trained by the American Association of Arbitrators to arbitrate property tax disputes in Texas.
